I was feeling a bit devious while making dinner the other night.
After rendering a half a package few slices of bacon, I glanced at the bacon drippings, then over at some freshly trimmed green beans on my cutting board, then back at the hot grease.
In went the green beans.
After a few minutes, I took them out and put them in a bowl. Then I looked over at my freshly crisped bacon which was intended for something else.
In went the bacon bits.
The end.
Baco-fried Green Beans
Ingredients:
A few slices of bacon
A few handfuls of fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-3 inch pieces (or not. we're not scientific today)
salt and pepper to tasteDirections:
Slice bacon into 1/2-inch pieces and cook in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, stirring often. Remove bacon bits with a slotted spoon and place in a bowl. Set aside.
Immediately after removing bacon bits, place green beans into the skillet and toss them around a bit. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until as tender as you like them, stirring often.
Transfer green beans to a serving bowl, top with bacon bits and add salt and pepper to taste.
