Phillips Chocolate Cake

This is still the best chocolate cake I’ve tried. Sorry you can’t see it underneath all the decor. It’s in there, I promise. And when we have some leftover long enough to photograph, I’ll show you.

Phillips Chocolate Cake

1 stick butter (4 oz)
1 c. water
1/2 cup cocoa
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
½ c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine butter, water, and cocoa in a saucepan. Bring to boil.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and soda. Add boiling mixture to dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla and mix until thoroughly combined. Pour into 2 greased, 8-inch round cake pans or a 9×13 cake pan. Bake at 350 for 20-25 min.
