My Go-To Buttermilk Ranch Dip
I used to be completely in love with those little green packets of Ranch dressing mix. So much that I started buying it in the canister instead of the packets.
When we started cleaning up our diet I soon realized that those “canisters of MSG”, as my husband affectionately called them, had to go. It was a long time before I discovered a good substitute that was just as convenient to use as those little packets. And tasted good, too.
About a year ago I posted the Homemade Buttermilk Dressing (Dry Mix) recipe. Since then I’ve found that I make it into a dip more often than I use it for a dressing. It’s great if you have little ones who are in the habit of eating their vegetables with some kind of dip because you don’t have to worry about MSG or flavorings.
My littlest one likes it, but my older one would rather just eat her carrot and pepper (and lately, jicama) sticks plain. (I’m definitely not complaining!)
I’ve made it several times for gatherings here and there, and I always get compliments!

Yum! I love ranch dressing! And I love that you can make the mix and store it to have on hand anytime! I will be making this for sure!

I secretly love those packets too but hate the MSG. Thanks for this great natural version!

I had an addiction to those ranch packets too…my roommate and I would whip up a batch and go to down with a bag of ruffles potato chips. Those were the days. I’m excited for your recipe! I’ll spread it on sandwiches, use it as veggie dip…oh what a wonderful recipe :)

LOVE that this is made with greek yogurt instead of mayo! I can’t eat mayo without gagging and so many dressings use it. Greek yogurt is def the way to go!

what kind of greek yogurt do you buy? I swear I cannot find a whole milk/full fat greek yogurt. The closest I find is lowfat with 2%.

Hi Jodi. I feel your pain! The only brand I can find of whole milk Greek yogurt is Zoi (blue & white container with a Greek statue head on it). They sell it at Winco (grocery store chain out west if you haven’t heard of it). It’s not even organic, but it’s hormone-free. Plain whole milk yogurt that isn’t Greek is hard to find sometimes, too. (Much less organic…) If I couldn’t find that, I think I’d make more from scratch using organic milk and strain it to make it “Greek”. Good luck on your search!!
